The Real Review Reviews our 2017 and 2018 Vintages

We are delighted to announce that a selection of our eight varieties were reviewed by The Real Review

Our 2018 Moscato received a silver ribbon when reviewed by Nick Butler, ‘Marashino cherry-pink colour. It’s vinous and cored with black muscat grapiness also anchoring its aromatics. Rich on the palate, though not overtly sweet; a lot to like about the bass notes here. Purpose built for soft cheeses. Very good.’

Our 2017 vintage of The Governor was also awarded a silver ribbon when reviewed by Huon Hooke, Youthful, deep purple/red colour. Graphite, pepper-spice and ironstone aromas, very distinctive and very appealing. A bright, pristine, intense wine of real elegance and style. Fruit drives it. Very impressive.’

Our 2017 Shiraz received a bronze ribbon when reviewed by Stuart Knox, ‘Lift of cherry cola to start. That cherry fruit continues across the palate with hints of chocolate and some cured meat notes adding some complexity. Fine tannins keep things focused but palate loses a little focus towards the back end.’

Our 2018 Smooth Red also received a bronze ribbon when reviewed by Nick Butler, ‘More than enough colour. Ripe plums with cinnamon and blood-orange bitterness. Crisp and crunchy red-berry acidity, shrill and treble-loaded. Fresh and bright.’

Our 2018 Fiano reviewed by Huon Hooke, ‘Bright, light-yellow colour with a spicy, nutty bouquet that has some interesting aromatic notes. The palate is tangy with lively acidity which counterpoints a touch of sweetness. The result is a juicy, fruity, straightforward but entertaining white wine, which has flavour and charm.’

Our 2018 Verdelho reviewed by Nick Butler, ‘White pineapple and dried peach, a vibrantly fruited bouquet. A solid hit of syrupy sweetness to it, loads of residual sugar. Acidity may have dropped from initial levels. Cloying.’
